The JVC Everio camcorder (GZ-R10) is one of Kev’s favorite underwater video cameras. We had a blast using it in Roatan, Honduras and can’t wait to get more footage. We bought this digital camcorder on a whim at Costco and have been very happy with it.
Edited to add: After a few years, we lost audio on ours but it’s still one of the best video camera’s we have had. We will look into buying another soon.
It looks like the JVC Everio GZ-R550 is the most up to date for this particular camcorder. It’s waterproof to 16.4 feet, has 32GB built-in memory and more.
The JVC Everio Camcorder is:
- easy to carry
- has a good battery life
- waterproof, dust proof, shockproof and freeze proof
This video quality for this particular underwater video camera is good for the price. It has a flip out rotating 3 inch LCD touchscreen and also takes still pictures. To turn the camcorder on you flip open the touchscreen and close it to shut off. It has less internal memory than most but we think it’s still good for the price.
Reviews on this camcorder are mixed so you’ll have to see for yourself. Costco doesn’t seem to carry it any longer but you can easily get free shipping when you buy it on Amazon.
Check the specs for yourself, then choose the right underwater camcorder that best fits YOU!
With all of our underwater video cameras, we rinse and dry after each use to keep it performing well. They haven’t failed us yet! Except for the audio on the Everio.
There is a really cool underwater video camera kit that I came across that includes the JVC Everio GZ-R550 plus 64GB card, tripod, filter and more. At the time of this post, they were moving fast!
If you have never been snorkeling, we highly recommend it. It’s always a new experience every time we go. The world underwater is like nothing we have ever experienced before.
You’ll capture a lifetime of memories with this underwater camcorder. Enjoy!
